Thank you!

Your support helped to make Seattle's first city wide garden build day a huge success. We built 9 gardens for low income families and communities, organized over 250 volunteers at more than 15 sites around Seattle, tallied over 18,000 square feet of food gardens built or revived and raised over $8,000 worth of cash and in-kind donations to begin and continue this work into the future! And by all accounts we had tons of FUN!

Spring into Bed! Is a testament to what can happen when we put our minds, money, and movement in the service of our hearts and our future. We captivated the city's imagination. We celebrated the possibility of what a thriving, just, community centered food system can be.

Spring into Bed is a collective statement: Yes, we can create our secure local food shed. Yes, we can build a fair and just local food system. Yes, our children and future generations will grow up with a connection to where their food comes from. Yes, we are willing to do what it takes to make our Seattle an edible city for everyone!

GOALS

Our goals for the event are:
  • Gather as a city and community to build and celebrate our local food system
  • Raise awareness of Seattle's city food shed, food security, and food justice
  • Build 10 subsidized gardens for low income people on May 8th
  • raise $13,000+ for a Food Justice Garden Project to begin and continue in Seattle
  • build/revive 100 Seattle gardens
  • HAVE FUN!!!
This is the kind of City we want to be living in! How will you to Spring into Bed?!
